Save Your Bacon Weekend
September 7 – 8, 2013
Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

FTCLDF member, Kristin Canty, provided the inspiration and donation to create the
Save Your Bacon Weekend giveaway. As a guest at the inaugural Polyface event (which attracted only a dozen guests) she saw the need to raise awareness about the trampling of farmer and consumer food rights.

Kristin’s film, Farmageddon has helped to create that awareness and as a result, this year, we anticipate a capacity crowd – 300 guests at Polyface!

The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) hosts a benefactors’ bash at Polyface Farm every year. This event is exciting, casual and inspiring. The things you’ll see and learn and the people you’ll meet are well worth the trip to Swoope, Virginia (2.5 hours south of Washington DC). A big tent is pitched in the back pasture, and a farm fresh breakfast and lunch is served, with an in-depth hay wagon tour led by Joel himself. It’s a family-friendly event and the children have a great time.

with Guests

This year, the event is going to be bigger and better, with lots of ways for people to participate. The Paleo community is coming out strong in support of farm food freedom issues, so this year we are inviting the Paleo community to join with us in the Celebration! at Polyface and other Save Your Bacon events focusing on Paleo lifestyle.

We are building a strong alliance with the Paleo community, as they are leading proponents of grass-based agriculture and whole foods eating. Folks from all diet persuasions can meet at the table to agree that farms like Joel Salatin’s Polyface are the way to future health and rural prosperity.

These FundRAISERS are how the Fund fills its coffers for the years of litigation ahead to keep our farms free. So the price of some tickets is relatively high. This year, we’ve created a couple of price breaks to make it more accessible.

    • You can buy the entire Save Your Bacon Weekend package at a discount of up to $80.
    • You can choose the walking tour option with next generation farmer, Daniel Salatin,
for a lower entry fee ($125 less and same great lunch!)
    • You can buy any of the Save Your Bacon Weekend events a la carte.
