May’s Member Monday!

By Suzanne Sisk | May 6, 2024

The Taylors of 1984 Farms, LLC

The first Monday of each month is Member Monday where we feature member photos or a video on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) is proud of our members, and we take great pleasure in highlighting their operations and the awesome work they are conducting in sustainable farming, animal husbandry, artisanal production, and homesteading.

1984 Farms, LLC

Kerissa and Steve Taylor, owners of 1984 Farms, LLC in Atlanta, Mo., always knew they wanted to raise their own food. Their motto is “Family Raised, Pasture-Finished. Meat Like Your Ancestors Ate.”

“We were going to take it slow and add a little at time, but we couldn’t find sources for the types of meats we wanted,” said Kerissa. “Then we knew we weren’t the only ones not being able to find quality, grass-finished truly clean meat.”

Karissa said she and Steve decided to become a resource for other like-minded people. Today they raise grass-finished beef and lamb and pasture raised pork with “none of the junk”: no vaccines, no synthetic chemicals, no synthetic hormones, and no anti-biotics.

Instead, the animals are managed in a way that mimics nature as best as possible and given natural supplements for the greatest health and vitality possible. They ship individual cuts and farm bundles weekly.

“We became a member of FTCLDF because we knew that large corporations aren’t always for the little guy, and there are too many sad stories of farms being shut down,” said Kerissa. “We joined as a safeguard for our farm, which in turn is a safeguard for our customers to be able to continue to source the types of meat they want and need for their families. We believe strongly in food transparency and freedom, and if there is an organization that believes similarly, we will support it!”
