Thankful Thursdays

By Katherine Ghantous | August 22, 2018

Protecting farmers, providing guidance, and advocating for farmers’ rights are at the core of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund’s (FTCLDF) services. We are there for our members in their most dire of circumstances—oftentimes when an inspector is already at their gate or farmers’ market booth. Small farmers face serious opposition in this country. Their approach to animal welfare, regenerative agriculture, and selling directly to consumers are a threat to big agricultural business. Yet, in the face of this adversity, they continue to be dedicated stewards of the land. And we want to say THANK YOU!

We are launching a new campaign this week: Thankful Thursdays. We want to hear from you why you are thankful for your farmers, why you are thankful for the opportunity to grow your own food or food for your community, or simply what having access to farm-fresh food means to you. Please send your feedback to [email protected] and let us know how and why you are thankful and if you permit us to share your feedback. We will be sharing the feedback every Thursday on our social media channels and sharing the feedback with our valued members. If you prefer to remain anonymous, we will respect your wish.

At FTCLDF our members matter most, and we do our best to keep membership fees reasonable, which have not been raised since our founding in 2007. Our annual membership fees are typically less than the cost of a single phone call with other attorneys who likely are not as up-to-speed on food laws and regulations as our attorneys. However, as a true grassroots organization, the majority of funding comes from those membership fees and individual donations from friends of our farmers like you!

Please consider setting up a recurring donation or making a one-time donation on the launch of Thankful Thursdays. It only takes a few minutes and your contributions will have a real impact—just a $10 monthly recurring donation will make a significant difference for our members. Show your support as a friend of the farm, and show our farming community just how important they are.

Donation

Learn more about the extensive benefits we offer to members.

Please consider making a donation to the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund to help us continue our mission to defend the rights and broaden the freedoms of family farms in the U.S. and protect consumer access to raw milk and nutrient-dense food.* Alternatively, donations can be made by mailing a donation or calling 703-208-3276(FARM).

*The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund is a 501(c)4 organization. Your donation is not deductible as a charitable contribution because donations are used, in part, for lobbying.

All donations to FTCLDF support the mission in defending the rights of members, advancing food policy, and in providing information and outreach to the public.

YOUR FUND AT WORK
Services provided by FTCLDF go beyond legal representation for members in court cases.

Educational and policy work also provide an avenue for FTCLDF to build grassroots activism to create the most favorable regulatory climate possible. In addition to advising on bill language, FTCLDF supports favorable legislation via action alerts and social media outreach.

You can help FTCLDF by becoming a member or donating today.

Anyone wanting to make a contribution to support the work of FTCLDF can donate/find out more or join us today!
