Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund
Protecting, defending, and broadening the rights and viability of independent farmers, artisanal food producers, and their consumers.
Thank you for standing with Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund. Because of our members and donors, we’ve been able to defend smaller independent farmers, ranchers, and food producers — often stepping in before problems escalate saving members a great deal of time, frustration and money.
Now more than ever, FTCLDF members are experiencing aggressive push back from federal and state agencies.
Our members ARE our mission!
For the first time in 18 years, effective May 1, 2026, for current members, FTCLDF is adjusting our member dues to strengthen the legal and advocacy support you count on.
This is in response to a clear and growing need across the country: More producers are facing inspections, citations, land-use pressure, and nuisance complaints than ever before. While we have had some successes in improving state policy, state agencies seem to be increasingly monitoring and regulating smaller farms, ranches, and artisanal food producers.
A modest dues increase will allow FTCLDF to provide stronger federal and state-level advocacy, ensure prompt response to member concerns, and continue to improve our educational offerings. Members will see the increase when they renew membership beginning May 1:
Farmer $ 140
Homesteader $ 80
Consumer $ 60
Artisan $ 140
Affiliate $ 275

Your membership keeps you protected before there’s trouble. We will continue offering unlimited legal guidance and, when necessary, legal representation in court. These services can save members tens of thousands of dollars in a single case. The dues adjustment will strengthen our ability to promptly prepare agreements and other documents, advise on regulatory compliance, and field urgent calls on our 24/7 hotline.
Your membership keeps FTCLDF independent and uncompromised. FTCLDF funding comes from member dues and generous donors who are dedicated to independent food producers and not government grants or industrial agricultural interests, preserving our independence. Our members are our mission and the reason we can fight solely for their interests. Adjusting dues ensures we will continue providing unbiased legal support without compromise.
We’re deeply grateful for your continued support and trust. Together, we’ll keep protecting food freedom and the right of producers and consumers to choose their food.
