Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) Board of Directors recognizes the service of Immediate Past President Joe Ramagli and extends a warm welcome to Peter Ruddock to the head of the organization.

To the position of President, Ruddock brings his passion for sustainable food and all things that strengthen local food economies. Ruddock is the creator of Resilient Foodsheds, an organization which acts as a clearinghouse for food policy for small food and farm businesses. He has spent many years working with organizations such as Slow Food and Slow Money, the Ecological Farming Association and the California Food Policy Council. Most recently, he worked as the Policy Director of the COOK Alliance, advocating for policy change which would support homemade food businesses and make them more widely legal.

“I am excited to help provide direction at a time of expected growth for FTCLDF, which will enable us to do more of the great work that we do supporting farmers and food producers,” said Ruddock.

Peter takes the helm from long-time board president, Joe Ramagli, who has served as president since 2018. Ramagli will continue to serve on the board as vice president.

“Our membership is in good hands with the kind of energetic, focused leadership we have included in our board of directors. I would like to thank Joe Ramagli for his years of dedicated service. Joe’s leadership made a real difference in the operations of FTCLDF, even in some very trying times, and we are so grateful,” said Executive Director Alexia Kulwiec. “I am also delighted with Peter’s decision to step up as President of the organization. Peter has vast experience with food policy work and steps up at a time when FTCLDF wishes to further its policy and advocacy efforts. His knowledge and experience in this area will prove invaluable as we continue to expand the impact of the organization for our members and the nation.”
