Help Us Protect Local Food: FTCLDF’s Summer Fundraiser!

Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund seeks support to meet the growing legal needs of independent farms, ranches, and local artisan and cottage food producers. To improve and increase our services to these producers, we are holding a summer fundraiser

By donating to FTCLDF, you are helping to ensure that . . .

Someone picks up when a rancher calls our emergency line during a surprise inspection or other emergency.

An experienced lawyer keeps a family dairy out of legal trouble by drafting a secure contract for a new herdshare agreement.

We fight for commonsense policies to protect and support our nation’s family farms, ranches, and food businesses.

As a non-profit organization, we depend on the generous support of consumers, producers, readers, and anyone seeking a better food system. We need your help to continue helping producers and encourage you to donate today.

Why Support FTCLDF?

As FTCLDF members, local food advocates, producers, and regenerative farmers and ranchers know, regulation of food in the U.S. is tailored for large, corporate industrial operations, not smaller independent farms and ranches providing healthy food for their communities.

This policy mismatch places serious financial and regulatory burdens on local producers that often simply cannot be met. FTCLF provides legal consultation and representation to its members navigating regulatory processes and works to advance policies that help, rather than hinder, smaller independent producers.

There are signs of progress at the state level: some legislators are beginning to understand the legal obstacles to growing, producing, and selling local food.

For an overview of recent state policy changes that benefit local food production, check out the FTCLDF Legislative Policy Update here.

We have also witnessed pushback from some regulatory agencies, which continue to enforce or even increase their onerous regulatory requirements that discourage local production. For examples of recent matters handled by FTCLDF, review our most recent hotline blotter.

Every Dollar Builds Muscle to Push Back on Regulatory Overreach

All of this is to say that our members have greater legal needs than ever, and we continue to welcome new members navigating regulatory barriers. FTCLDF is always striving to serve more independent food producers by expanding its legal representation and policy work.

Please consider a monthly donation if you have the means to support our work protecting and expanding the rights of producers providing healthy foods to their communities.

Thank you for your contributions and support. We hope you’ll stay in touch by subscribing for important alerts and information. Again, to donate during this drive, we invite you to click here to lend your support.
