The first Monday of each month is Member Monday where we feature member photos or a video on our Instagram and Facebook pages. Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) is proud of our members, and we take great pleasure in highlighting their operations and the awesome work they are conducting in sustainable farming, animal husbandry, artisanal production, and homesteading. See above for January’s member photos!
The Fort Farm LLC
The Fort Farm LLC story is one of inspiration, rooted in a deep passion for agriculture and sustainability. The founder, Karla Schwartz, is a military veteran whose journey was shaped by her parents’ unwavering appreciation for agriculture, the earth, and sustainability. Her vision for Fort Farm was further ignited by her grandparents’ history of farming. Karla’s dream of having a sustainable eco-tourism farm came into vision while internationally deployed on a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. After her enlistment, she earned an undergraduate degree in Natural Resources and an MBA at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.
Karla embarked on her agricultural enterprise in 2022 with steadfast support from both her family and community. Fort Farm LLC in Gillette, Wyoming brings a unique blend of discipline, resilience, and a global perspective to the world of local agriculture and tourism. Karla established Fort Farm LLC to champion food safety, promote eco-conscious practices, and contribute to conservation through education, recreation, local processing, and the distribution of specialty crops and animal proteins.
The offerings at Fort Farm LLC embrace diversity, from laying hens to succulent broilers, chemical-free produce to handcrafted goods and services. The Farm offers more than just products by also providing nourishment, entertainment, learning, community, and unforgettable experiences.
With a strong focus on education, especially for children, Fort Farm LLC opens its doors to internships, field trips, tours, and engaging educational events. This approach not only teaches the origins of healthy food but also provides hands-on learning experiences and traditional skills that integrate into day-to-day living.
At Fort Farm LLC, they take great pride in being a part of the solution to local food and waste issues and are committed to ethically raising and growing products, ensuring the well-being of the earth, animals, and people. Karla is also resolute against poor food quality, GMO products, an unreliable global supply system, as well as processed foods that lead to declining health and reduced quality of life.
Karla aims to help transform the food industry by creating economic opportunities, preserving the environment, and enhancing human health. Fort Farm LLC isn’t just a business; it’s a commitment to cultivating a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
