Stop Abusive Land Trust Practices! Protect Property Rights of Virginia Family Farms
VA-PropRights-1010crop

The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) has repeatedly overstepped its authority under the Virginia Conservation Easement Act. PEC is a co-holder of the conservation easement for Martha Boneta's property, Liberty Farm in Paris, Virginia.

If the PEC is allowed to get away with its well-publicized and documented transgressions against this Fauquier County farmer, what is to keep it and like-minded power-hungry groups from violating the property rights of other Virginians in the Commonwealth?

Too often, easement holders like PEC, whether through mistreatment of farmers or through opposition to progressive legislation (e.g., PEC opposed HB 268 which passed into law effective July 1, 2014), impair the ability of farmers to have a viable working farm and do not respect farmers' property rights.

The Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF) Board of Trustees is meeting November 6 at 9:30 a.m. after the Property Rights Rally. Both Boneta and PEC will be allotted 20 minutes to speak followed by 3-minute comments from anyone else. Written comments received by 5:00 p.m., October 31 will be provided to the trustees in advance of the meeting.

Sign this EMAIL petition to the VOF Board of Trustees ([emailprotected]):
I urge you to remove PEC as a holder of the conservation easement for Liberty Farm and investigate whether PEC should continue as holder of any other easements.

Comments must include your name, address, and daytime phone number for verification purposes, or they will not be accepted as part of the official VOF meeting record.

Type your own personal message on the subject: All comments should be appropriately respectful and in acceptable taste. If one of your recipients is also a newspaper there is a minimum of 10 and a maximum of about 250 words. Your signature will be added automatically.
