Raise Money to Attend!
The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) is a true grassroots organization and receives the bulk of its revenue from membership fees and donations from private individuals . . . like you!
As we were told growing up, money doesn’t grow on trees.
We agree, but believe money does grow best through grassroots efforts.
Sustainability has to apply even to, and especially in, FundRAISING. So, if you don’t have the means to make a big splashy donation, we totally understand. We don’t either!
Donations shouldn’t break the bank for any one person; so, we have a plan!
Here’s a new and fun way to raise both funds and fun for our food rights and farmer-loving community.
You, yes you, can become a grassroots FundRAISER on behalf of the Fund … raise money and win fabulous donor gifts.
HOW TO RAISE A GAZILLION DOLLARS
If you ever sold Girl Scout cookies, collected money for band camp or other early youth fundraiser activities, you know how this goes. With pleading eyes and longing looks you knock on the door and say, “I want to go to camp, will you help me raise the money to go? All the other kids are going.”
You leveraged all your circles of influence. You went door-to-door, asking kind neighbors. Your parents strong armed their co-workers. You made special emotional appeals to all (un)lucky family members within earshot.
But . . . now we have now have the internet, and social media — so, no more door-to-door, pleading eyes or longing looks needed!
1. Make a donation to the Fund of any amount over $5.00 using one of these links for the event you’d like to attend.
· Celebration! At Polyface — September 7, 2013, Swoope, VA [$250/ticket] · P3: Paleo, Price, PorkFest — September 8, 2013, Staunton, VA, [$200/ticket] · Polyface YOU! — November 7, 2013, Atlanta, GA [$107/ticket] · Joe vs. Joel: Debate of the Decade, Dinner and Dance — November 7, 2013, Atlanta GA [$87/ticket]
2. Once your donation is processed, your confirmation page will contain a link to a webpage where you can create your very own personal campaign. That’s a place where you can make a non-binding and bodacious “pledge” of financial support to FTCLDF.
3. Customize the message on your Personal Campaign Page and submit. {“submit it” or “click submit”}
4. Our nifty system will notify us that you want to start a personal campaign; we look it over and give you the go-ahead by email.
5. Send out the link to your Personal Campaign page to friends, families, neighbors, FB fans . . . everyone! Cast a wide net!
6. Watch your progress towards your pledge. Cross your fingers! Save the date! Hold your breath!
7. Send out the appeal, and tell your circles of your progress, keeping an eye on the due date (early bird registration due date for each event).
REDEEM YOUR FUNDRAISER GIFTS
The money raised through your Personal Campaign link will be credited towards your pledge amount. The final date to collect pledges, and redeem gifts is the “Early Bird” registration date posted for the event.
Shortly after the “Early Bird” registration date, we’ll chat and see what prizes you qualify for and send you your complimentary ticket(s) and virtual hugs and pats on the back.
THE FINE PRINT
Let’s say, the target pledge for a ticket to Celebration! At Polyface is $250.
And, you raise $100 by August 20, 2013. We will thank you for your donation! Great!
Let’s say you raise $250, we’ll send you one free ticket! Hurrah!
Or, how about you raise $500, we’ll send you two free tickets! Yahoo!
And on and on! We’d like to say the sky is the limit, but since we have maximum seating for events, 20 tickets is the maximum donor gifts we’ll award to any one person.
If you raise odd amounts (i.e. $152.49) sorry, no refunds or “rounding up” to a second ticket.
Since this is a donation, not a purchase, we will not provide refunds should you be unable to attend the event, but you are free to send a substitute in your place!
Any other expenses related to your attendance are on your own dime (i.e. travel and lodging).
What if your friends follow your lead and get the wise idea to start their own personal campaign after they donate to yours? Will you get the benefit from THEIR personal campaign? Nope! But you will get the benefit of their initial donation! That will begin a whole new personal campaign, with prizes going directly to them for donations they’ve collected.
Any questions? Ask them in the comment section.
HAVE FUN!
All of this money supports the farmers, artisan food producers and consumer members of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund. We hope you enjoy the process of raising necessary funds AND attending GREAT events.
