Support VA Constitutional Amendment
(HJ 519)

UPDATE: Tuesday evening, January 27th, SJ 264 was withdrawn by the patron Senator Thomas A. Garrett, in spite of the fact that it was reported out of the sub-committee with a vote of 4-2 in favor and all of the public calls in support as well as the many supporters that came out in person. Senator Garrett stated there were concerns raised that Virginia would lose their USDA state meat inspections and was not computable going forward with the "right to acquire" Amendment this year without further investigation.

Thanks to everyone for your support and efforts to share this information. You are making a difference!

HJ 519 is the twin sister of SJ 264 and still has a chance; voting on this will go very quickly, so please support by contacting the Privileges and Elections Committee members (contact info below) and let them know you stand up for your right to acquire the foods of your choice!

Reminder: the Proposed Constitutional Amendment would read, "That the people shall have a right to acquire, for their own consumption, farm-produced food directly at the farm with agreement from the farmer who produced it."
